The purpose of this letter is to request a Community Partnership with Madison ParkAcademy’s Athletic Department.
MPA is located in the East Oakland neighborhood of Sobrante Park and is a member of the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). Sobrante Park is a neighborhood separated, in part, from the rest of Oakland by railroad tracks and the San Leandro Creek. The population of our neighborhood is 6,744 and our median home value is under $270,000. 58% of the households in our community earn $74k or less annual income.
According to the Student Accountability Report Card (SARC) MPA is comprised of 49.7% Latino, 45.9% African-American and 2.3% Pacific Islanders.
Our two campuses consist of one fully functional Transitional Kindergarten (T/K) through 5th Grade and a Middle School and High School occupying the second facility.
Although each campus would greatly benefit from this request, our primary focus will be ensuring/developing intercollegiate sports for both the Middle and High School students.
MPA is a community-driven public school that gives the neighborhood youth an opportunity for academic achievement. This year MPA celebrated our second High School Graduating Class! Our 2018 Class produced the highest number of students accepted into the University of California.
